Inspire Governor DeSantis to NOT Veto Special Appropriations funding for Operation G.R.O.W.

Updated: Sep 20, 2020

As we have done over the past three years, we are seeking funding to support our Operation G.R.O.W. program. This year, our request has been sponsored by Senator David Simmons and Representative David Smith. The funding is critical to the continuance of Operation G.R.O.W. and the important work the staff is conducting on behalf of the specialists. We are requesting your assistance to secure the funding. Please call or email State Representatives and State Senators, as well as the Governor’s Office, and ask that Governor DeSantis does not veto the special appropriations funding for Operation G.R.O.W. The committee is set to make a decision by June 30th, so please contact your officials prior to that date.

About Inspire of Central Florida - Operation G.R.O.W.

Inspire of Central Florida offers exceptional Adult Day Training, Employment Services and Residential Habilitation Services to individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) and developmental disabilities (DD) in Central Florida. As part of our program, Inspire offers Operation G.R.O.W. (Giving Real Opportunities for Work), an internship program immersed in both classroom instruction and real-world work experience. Interns participating in Operation G.R.O.W. gain real-world work experience through volunteering with several community partners. For the past three years, we have volunteered with Northland Church, The Sharing Center, Goodwill Industries and more recently two locations of our Inspire Your Day Café at our local sheriffs office. During their internships, the individuals learn janitorial duties, sorting, stocking, time management, organization, financial transactions, customer service and business etiquette. All in an effort to improve their self-confidence, enhance their skill sets and increase their likelihood of future employment.

Inspire of Central Florida has a proven track record for success. In 2018, Inspire received a 99.1% score on the Qlarant Provider Review, qualifying Inspire as the highly respected “Deemed Status”. In 2019, Inspire received a 97% satisfaction rating from the individuals enrolled in our program and their families. Also in 2019, Inspire of Central Florida was recognized by the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (FLARF) as the Employment Center of the Year.
